The workshop aimed at fostering exchange of ideas between experimentalists and theoreticians working at the interface of ecology, computer science, mathematics, neuroscience, physics and psychology. The workshop was organized by the Bristol Centre for Applied Nonlinear Mathematics and by the Bristol Centre for Complexity Sciences, a new interdisciplinary centre in Complexity funded by the UK EPSRC (Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council). The outcome of the workshop is now published in this Journal of Animal Ecology article.
