All eligible candidates are automatically considered for this scholarship. See the Faculty scholarhips for overseas students page for more details. Edmund Boulton
Edmund Bolton was the first Head of the Department that eventually became what is known today as Engineering Mathematics, the centenary of which we are celebrating in 2009. Originally a lecturer at the Mechant Venturers' Technical College, Edmund joined the newly incorporated University of Bristol as Professor of Applied Mathematics when the MVTC senior engineering classes were merged into the Faculty of Engineering in 1909. He was head of what was then called the Theoretical Mechanics Department up until his retirement in 1935. |
