Travel by air

Bristol airport is only nine miles from the city centre. There is a dedicated non-stop bus service to Bristol Temple Meads Railway and Bristol Bus & Coach Station. The journey takes approximately 25 minutes, tickets can be purchased onboard the coach. The service operates from 5.30 am to 10.30 pm daily. The return fare is UKP 6 for adults. Alternatively, take a taxi direct from the airport. Fares are about UKP 16-18 each way to most points in the city centre: we recommend use of Airportcarz who are based at the airport (tel: 01275-474888).
• Heathrow airport, 10 miles to the west of London, is the closest of the London airports to Bristol. The easiest way to Bristol is by coach, number 200, 201 or 202: a 2 hour journey, with coaches leaving every hour, at 20 minutes past the hour. The coach arrives at Bristol Bus and Coach Station. The return fare is UKP 29.00 for adults. Travelling by train is a a little more involved (and much more expensive) journey, and involves taking the "Heathrow Express" into London Paddington station, and changing train for Bristol Temple Meads. (See below.)
• Gatwick airport also has a direct coach service to Bristol, number 200 or 201, taking about 3.5 hours, leaving approximately once every two hours. The return fare is UKP 34.50 per adult. Do check the times on the web. (See address below.) By train, it's a 3 hour journey, changing train at Reading.
• Travelling from the majority of other UK airports is most easily achieved by train or bus, see below.

Travel by train

The most convenient train station for Burwalls is the main station in the centre of Bristol, Bristol Temple Meads. (Note that Bristol has a second main line station, Bristol Parkway, but this is a long way from the city centre, so is best avoided). Trains from London leave London Paddington station every half hour during the day. Bristol Temple Meads is also served by direct trains from most other major cities in the UK. Train timetables are available from Railtrack's website and fares from thetrainline (registration necessary for the latter).

Travel by coach

Coaches arrive at the Bristol Bus & Coach Station on Marlborough Street. More information on coach travel is available from the National Express website.

Bristol Temple Meads / Bristol Bus & Coach Station to Burwalls

There are taxi ranks at both Bristol Temple Meads and at the rear of the Bristol Bus & Coach Station, from where you can take a taxi up to "Burwalls conference centre, just over the Clifton Suspension bridge". Alternatively, to enjoy Bristol's scenery, take bus number 8 to "Clifton Christchurch" (stop marked on the map), and take the 10 minute walk across the suspension bridge. Burwalls is the first building on the left after crossing the bridge.

Travel by car

• From the M5 (the North & South West), leave the M5 at junction 19 & take the A369 to Bristol. Follow signs to Bristol & then Clifton Suspension Bridge. Burwalls is just before the suspension bridge, on the right hand side.

• From the M4 (London & South East), leave the M4 at junction 19 (M32), follow the M32 until the end of the motorway & then follow the route marked on the map. Burwalls is just after Clifton suspension bridge, on the left hand side.

Off-street car parking is available at Burwalls, which need not be booked in advance: the main car-park is accessed via the rear lodge on Burwalls Road.
