The department is committed to promoting the use of mathematics to study real world problems of direct engineering, scientific and industrial relevance. The research interests are diverse including major groups in

All our research was rated at least grade 5 in the 1996 and 2001 Research Assessment Excercises (with 5* in the category of Applied Mathematics in 2001).
